Introduction

 

The Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), was established in July 1972 and is one of the four departments within the Faculty of Science.

The primary focus areas of the Department of Physics encompass research fields such as Semiconductors, Nanostructures & Superconductor Devices, Applied Magnetism, Glass & Ceramics, Theoretical Physics & Computational Physics, Quantum Science & Technology, Applied Electromagnetics & Instrumentation, Radio Frequency & Microwave, Data Science, Optical Physics, Optoelectronics, Photonics, Radiation, Biophysics, Solar Cells, and Carbon.

The main goal of the Department of Physics is to produce highly knowledgeable and competent graduates who are ready for employment according to the needs of the industry and professional fields.

The Department of Physics, Faculty of Science at UPM has received recognition from various parties for excellence and the contributions of physics professionals, particularly in the field of research.

Exploration of diverse scientific fields has enabled the Department of Physics to establish collaborations with various entities at both national and international levels. Some of the agencies involved include Nagoya Institute of Technology (NiTECH), Japan, Universitas Indonesia, and Shibaura Institute of Technology, Japan.
